Awesome Things to Do in Class or at Home

  • Mission Diorama Project (California 4th-grade requirement!) Build a model of any mission. Use cardboard, clay, paint, and Lego people. Add Native vaqueros on horses, cattle herds, gardens, and bells. Tip: Look at the photos on each mission’s page for ideas!
  • Native Vaquero Role-Play – Act out herding cattle with ropes and pretend horses.
  • Timeline Poster – Draw the 54-year mission story from 1769 to 1823.
  • Acorn Gathering Map – Show where different tribes lived before the missions.
  • Interview a Vaquero – Write or record what a Native cowboy might say about his day.
